Lutheran Church of Orăștie
The church of the Saxon community, built in the early 19th century next to the town's old church.

In the Middle Ages the whole community of Orăștie used the same church, today the Reformed church. After the Protestant Reformation the town's Hungarians adopted the reform of John Calvin and the Saxons that of Martin Luther. For three centuries the Saxons shared the former Roman Catholic church with the Hungarians, taking turns; in the early 19th century they built a new place of worship right next to the old one.
The church is a historic monument and recalls the Saxon past of the town, called Broos in German and Szászváros in Hungarian — “the Saxons' town”.
