Pogány Castle, Păclișa

A two-storey Baroque castle with 22 rooms, in a park with a stream, built around 1800 6 km from Hațeg; a children's hospital now operates here.

The castle in Păclișa, Totești commune, was built in the Baroque style around 1800 (18th century, with 19th-century alterations and additions). It has two storeys and 22 rooms and stands in a park with a stream and walking paths. It lies about 6 km from Hațeg and roughly 15 km from the Retezat National Park.

After the Second World War the Soviet army occupied the castle and set up barracks in the grounds. Rehabilitation works followed in the early 1990s and further works from 2001. Today the complex houses the “Dr. V. Ilea” Child Neuropsychiatry Hospital, and the castle serves as its administrative seat. No visiting information is published.
