Jieț Gorge – Groapa Seacă
Wild gorges and the springs of the Jieț, a natural gateway into the Parâng massif.

The Jieț Gorge reserve is a nationally protected natural area (IUCN category IV), covering 10 ha, on the right slope of the Parâng Mountains, within the territory of Petrila town. Here the Jieț river has carved steep, narrow gorges with lichen-covered rock walls and mountain forest vegetation; the reserve was established in 1995 and officially declared in 2000.
Further upstream, Groapa Seacă Hut (~1,220 m) is a well-known starting point for trails to Parângul Mare Peak, Lake Mija and other landmarks in the massif, one of the classic access gates into the Hunedoara side of the Parâng Mountains.
