Church of the Dormition, Beriu
Beriu's village church, rebuilt in 1894–1897 after a fire, with a massive tower and a Baroque-style cap.

Beriu, the commune's seat, is recorded from 1332; Saxons were settled here, as at Sereca, in 1334. The Orthodox Church of the Dormition was rebuilt between 1894 and 1897 by the Orăștie architect Nicolae Părău, after the 18th-century stone church — painted in 1793, probably by the local painter Ioan of Beriu — was badly damaged by a fire in the summer of 1894.
It has a rectangular plan with a polygonal apse, and a massive tower with a Baroque-inspired cap rises above the west entrance. The interior was painted in 1898–1899 and repainted in 2000–2003 by Ligia Despina Crăciunescu.
