St Paraskeva Church, Lăpușnic

A 17th-century stone church with a vault painted in 1726 on a lining of wooden boards.

The village of Lăpușnic, at the northern foot of the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, keeps a stone church listed as a historic monument since 1948. The oldest part of the nave, from the mid-17th century, was originally a civil building donated by the widow Maria de Lazar.

The altar and the lengthened nave date from the first half of the 18th century — “1726 March 26” is written on the vault — and the narthex and bell tower were added in 1832–1843. The vault over the nave and altar was painted in 1726 on a board lining by an unknown painter and repainted in 1817; the murals are now badly deteriorated.
