St Nicholas' Church, Leșnic
A small knez church from the late 14th century, with medieval murals in the nave.

St Nicholas' stone church in Leșnic, Vețel commune, on the left bank of the Mureș, is one of the old foundations of Romanian knezes in the Hunedoara area. It has a simple hall plan: a 5.6 × 5 m nave and a vaulted altar, later extended with a narthex topped by a wooden bell tower and a small porch.
Its architecture and the murals in the nave date it to the late 14th or early 15th century. Its founder is thought to be the knez Dobre, son of Ioan of Leșnic, who in 1386 was confirmed in possession of a mountain at the head of the Leșnic valley. Excavations in 1984 accompanied the building's restoration.
