Uricani – Runcu mountain road
A newly-paved mountain road linking Uricani to Gorj county through the Sohodol Gorges, at 830 m altitude.
Completed on the Hunedoara side in November 2025, the Uricani–Runcu mountain road links Hunedoara and Gorj counties through a mountain area with spectacular scenery, passing the Sohodol Gorges and the Valea de Pești dam, at a maximum altitude of about 830 m. The works, worth over 44.4 million lei, were funded through the Anghel Saligny Programme, carried out by Uricani local authority in partnership with Hunedoara County Council.
On the Gorj side, works still need up to two years to finish, but the new access already opens the way to the Sohodol Gorges and Lake Valea de Pești, and has already drawn the area's first guesthouse and cabin investments.
