Dendrological park

Simeria Arboretum

Romania's oldest and largest dendrological park, with over 2,100 tree and shrub species on about 70 hectares.

Simeria Arboretum grew out of the Gyulay family manor park, documented since 1763, on the left bank of the Mureș river. After nationalisation, it was officially turned into a dendrological park in 1949 and placed under a forestry research station, a role it still holds today.

The collection, gathered from Europe, North America and Asia, is considered one of Romania's most valuable and includes rare specimens, among them centuries-old trees. The park is a protected natural monument and is visited on marked paths with an entrance ticket.
