Teliucu Inferior

A commune in the Poiana Ruscă range, with Cincis Lake, Roman archaeological sites at Cinciș-Cerna and an old mining tradition at Teliuc.

Teliucu Inferior is a commune in the Poiana Ruscă Mountains, near Hunedoara, made up of the villages of Teliucu Inferior (the seat), Cinciș-Cerna, Izvoarele and Teliucu Superior.

Its territory includes Cincis Lake, a reservoir known for its beach and fishing. Cinciș-Cerna has an archaeological site, a tumular necropolis and a Roman villa rustica.

Teliuc was an important surface-mining site in antiquity, and a Dacian-Roman workshop there supplied iron to Legio XIII Gemina at Apulum and to the provincial capital, Sarmizegetusa.
