Corvin Castle: a €11.6 million restoration and new areas for visitors

On 3 August 2026 the mayor announced that the restoration would end by 31 August, with the Bear Pit, the Chapel Bridge and the “Between the Walls” space joining the visitor route.

Corvin Castle's restoration costs €11.6 million, from two non-reimbursable projects: €5 million from the Regional Operational Programme (2018–2023) and €6.6 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. By the date of the announcement (3 August 2026) the access bridge near the old Gate Tower, the Buzdugan Tower with the cavalier on top and the fresco in the Matia Loggia, showing the coats of arms of noble families including Vladislav Jagiello and John Hunyadi, were finished.

According to the announcement, the Bear Pit was soon to join the visitor route, while the Chapel Bridge and the “Between the Walls” space, between the Pustiu Tower and the Old Gate Tower, were to become accessible for the first time. For the current hours and ticket price, see the castle's page (the winter schedule applies from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027).
