Hunedoara
Home to Corvin Castle, one of Europe's largest medieval castles.
Hunedoara was long an important steel-industry centre, but is best known for Corvin Castle (Hunyadi Castle), built in the 15th century by John Hunyadi — one of the largest Gothic-Renaissance castles in Europe and one of the “7 Wonders of Romania”.
The castle, with its Knights' Hall, Diet Hall and towers, can be visited year-round and is lit up in the evening.
