Geoagiu-Băi spa resort
A year-round spa resort with thermal waters, an outdoor pool complex with an Olympic pool, and Roman baths almost two millennia old.

Geoagiu-Băi is a year-round spa and climatic resort, part of the town of Geoagiu, about 18 km north of Orăștie, at 350 m altitude, in hilly country at the foot of the Metaliferi Mountains. Its mesothermal and thermal waters (29–32 °C) are alkaline, slightly sulphurous, bicarbonated and magnesian, used mainly for locomotor, gynaecological, metabolic and skin conditions.
The thermal outdoor pool complex has three pools, including an Olympic-size one, with water at 32–33 °C. Also in the resort are the Germisara Roman baths, a well-preserved stretch of Roman road and a waterfall, while nearby Geoagiu has an 11th–12th century Romanesque rotunda. The north of the resort holds the “Geoagiu-Băi mesothermal waters” nature reserve (8 ha), which protects the forest around the springs.
In 2008 Geoagiu-Băi was classified as a tourist resort of national interest, and in 2010 it was named Romania's European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) for aquatic tourism.
