A day in Hunedoara and Deva

Corvin Castle in the morning, the museum, the park and the citadel of Deva in the afternoon — the two towns of the Mureș Corridor in a single day.

2 days · 5 stops

The two towns are not far from each other, so they fit in one long day: Hunedoara's castle in the morning, then Deva, with the museum in the centre and the park at the foot of the citadel.

Morning — Hunedoara

  1. Corvin Castle Medieval castle · Hunedoara

The Knights' Hall, the Diet Hall and a well dug by Turkish prisoners — the details behind Romania's most visited castle.

Check the opening hours on the place's page: they change from one season to the next.

  2. Govăjdia Blast Furnace optional Historic industrial site · Hunedoara

A furnace from 1810, Europe's first continuous-flow blast furnace — a relic of the iron-making tradition that grew into industrial Hunedoara.

Afternoon — Deva

  1. Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilisation — Magna Curia Museum · Deva

The baroque Magna Curia palace, in central Deva, houses the history collections of the Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilisation and a lapidarium with over a hundred archaeological pieces.

  2. Citadel Park, Deva Park & citadel access · Deva

The park at the foot of Deva Citadel — the starting point for the walking trails, the electric minibus and the cable car (currently out of service) up to the citadel plateau.

Check the place's page to see whether the cable car is running; otherwise you can walk up or take the electric minibus.

  3. Gymnasts' Walk optional Memorial walk · Deva

A row of 15 bronze busts, unveiled in 2008 at the foot of Deva Citadel, honouring the gymnasts and coaches who made Deva a world centre of gymnastics.
